Retro Fit Projects

If you are a private or council contractor about to start a retrofit project involving upgrading the insulation, windows, doors, heating system or a complete extension to an existing house, please contact us first. We know from working on existing houses over the years that there are many other things to take into consideration when planning a new ventilation system. When installing a whole house ventilation system, the layout of the house may affect the efficiency of that system or make it very expensive and time consuming installing that system. The effect the system may have on fuel burning appliances and fire regulations, especially in apartments, has to be taken into account. Finding the right system and installing it with the correct components to comply with a number of building regulations can be confusing and time consuming.

At Loughview Solutions we will work with your architect or engineer to find a solution that is practical, viable and will comply with building regulations. There is no one system that fits all houses especially in retro fit projects. We have installed all the different fans and vents on our website and know the limitations of each product and also the noise level of that product in operation. We are here to help you source the right products and help you any way we can with your installation. We are available for site visits to show you how to install the system and how to commission that system. If your engineer or architect has specified a certain brand of ventilation product and you do not see it on our website, please contact us to see if we can offer you an alternative.

For contractors that are working with housing bodies, management companies or local County Council housing departments, we are here to advise on strategies to combat mould and condensation problems. We have conducted hundreds of Damp surveys over the last 12 years, the majority of the problems were due to ventilation systems that would not pass current day building regulations. We have a range of fans on our website that will achieve the current day building regulations no matter the building layout. Also installing fans that are tamper proof is something you should consider. Using WhatsApp or sending a video of the layout of the building and the ventilation system can sometimes be a quicker way to diagnose the problem. For more complex problems we are available to do surveys so you can complete the works. When doing the survey, we are happy to show you the most common problems as often the room that is suffering the mould growth is not the room causing the problem.

New Build Projects

For builders, contractors and architects completing new build projects we offer a range of alternatives to heat recovery ventilation systems. While we recognize that a heat recovery ventilation system is the best solution when constructing a new home, we are here to supply you with the knowledge and products to install an alternative system that works. Quite often due to the layout of the property the installation of a heat recovery system can be quite difficult and make the system noisy and reduce the efficiency of that heat recovery ventilation system. The other problem maybe that there is not the budget for a heat recovery ventilation system. The energy saving between a heat recovery ventilation system and a CMEV system is around 3 kwh/m2/year, when using a heat pump this will further reduce the difference. When maintenance of the heat recovery system, changing the filters and the cost of replacing the heat recovery ventilation system when it fails is factored in, you are not installing a heat recovery system to save money. The most important thing is to install a system that works and complies with building regulations. Please see some of the ventilation systems for new build homes below.
