MEV Ventilation

MEV Ventilation Systems

Whole House Ventilation

Mechanical extract ventilation (MEV)  is a central extract unit that extracts out of all the wet areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, toilets and utility rooms. The unit has two functions

  • (1) To provide your home with a constant background ventilation as the fan is set to provide half an air change per hour of the total volume of air in the house. This is the recommended air exchange for a new build house according to part F of the building regulations. The air is extracted through the wet areas and replacement air comes in through the bedrooms and sittingroom from either anti draught vents or humidity controlled vents.
  • (2) The unit will provide boost ventilation for moisture laden air from multiple wet rooms either by means of a humidity sensor or a manual boost switch.

The MEV ventilation unit is a whole house ventilation unit that has a very low running cost and no cost for replacement filters. The units operate at a low noise level and have a long life span. When the unit does eventually fail there is no major replacement cost compared to a heat recovery ventilation unit.

As well as providing all year round good indoor air quality at a very low running cost the unit will cut down dramatically the number of wall vents needed in a new build house. These units are a very good solution for new build houses or for major retrofits.

We supply the following units from Envirovent and S&P. Below are some of the anti draught vents and humidity controlled vents which also come in acoustic versions.
