Thermal Imaging and Heat Loss Survey

Thermal Imaging & Heat Loss Survey

Thermal Imaging & Heat Loss

If you find that you have rooms in your house that are hard to heat or you are considering up grading the insulation in your home we would recommend this survey. The survey is also useful in locating services before you start work and identifying cold bridging. The heat loss survey is very similar to the damp survey as we are scanning your property for areas of heat loss. Where you have an area that heat is escaping through the fabric of your property you will find that moisture is also escaping into the fabric of your property. If this moisture does not condensate on the surface of the building fabric it will condensate inside the fabric of the building which is called interstitial condensation. This can lead to significant damage to your property as there is a real risk of damp and mould problems. If you are planning any of the following home improvements such as insulating, improving the air tightness, replacing windows and upgrading your heating system. You may find that you have unintended consequences in the form of damp and mould growth.

Our Surveyors

Our surveyors are certified to install insulation and airtightness products. They have a level one certificate in thermal imaging and have trained with the Property Care Association to identify problems in retrofit insulation. They have many years’ experience at surveying insulation defects in private homes as this is usually the first place mould growth will start to materialized.

Poor Insulation Problem

A poor insulation job is sometimes not about the depth of insulation that has been installed but more about the areas of insulation that are left out. Eg 140mm of internal wall insulation placed on the walls with no insulations around the reveals will lose 10% more heat than 20mm of insulation on the walls and the reveals.
